COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Sewer problems in Colorado Springs caused a number of basements to flood early Thursday morning.

The homes affected are on Fascination Circle and Enchanted Circle.

Colorado Springs police says S. Carefree is closed between Oro Blanco and Enchanted.

Eight homes are reporting damage and about twenty-three others are without water.

The incident started when sewers started backing up and then flooded out of a manhole.

Officials went door to door informing residents of the flooding risks.

Many decided to leave their homes.

Colorado Springs Utilities crews are on scene trying to make repairs.
