Colorado Springs, Colo.- The Colorado Springs fire department has proposed amending the fire code.

It's all to improve safety conditions and prevent severe wildfires like the Waldo Canyon fire.

The division of the fire marshal met with more than 1,200 citizens, the HBA, city council and Mayor Steve Bach to develop the amendment.

The first reading was held Tuesday, December 11, 2012.

It will be voted on at the next formal city council meeting later this month.
