ESTES PARK, Colo. (AP) -- Some residents who live near a wildfire in Rocky Mountain National Park are being allowed to return home, but they aren't out of the woods yet.

Some evacuated residents were allowed to return home Wednesday, but authorities say they need to be on alert in case they need to leave again. The remaining evacuees are scheduled to be allowed back home on Friday.

The Fern Lake Fire has been burning for nearly two months and has scorched about six square miles. It is 40 percent contained.

The fire has burned at least one cabin and forced the evacuation of several areas in and around the park.
