A DNA match has led to the arrest of a Colorado Springs man.

Colorado Springs Police arrested Daniel Gostnell, 35, last month in a sexual assault case dating back nearly six years.

The victim said she dated Gostnell one time, about six months prior to the January 2007 assault.

She stated that when her boyfriend was deployed to Iraq, Gostnell called to check on her.

They agreed to go out and play pool, after which she invited Gostnell back to her home to show him a care package she created for her boyfriend.

The victim said she had a few drinks, but doesn't remember anything until she woke up the next day and realized she had been sexually assaulted.

She called CSPD and forensic evidence was collected.

More than three years later, in March 2010, cold case investigators took another look at the case, after following new leads, evidence showed a match to Gostnell's DNA.

He was arrested on October 24, 2012 for sexual assault, and will be in court next week.
