19-year-old still in hospital after being hit by car on Academy

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- A teenager is in critical condition Wednesday morning after being hit by a car while trying to cross Academy Boulevard in Colorado Springs while traffic had a green light.

According to Colorado Springs Police officers, the 19-year-old man tried to cross Academy at Maizeland Road when a northbound car hit him around 11:07 p.m. Tuesday.

Investigators said the car had a green light.

Northbound Academy and all of Maizeland was closed at the intersection until almost 2 a.m. Wednesday.

Officers said the driver was not drinking and had not been speeding when the crash happened.
