COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Colorado Springs Police officers announced Tuesday two charges against the driver accused of killing two women as they were pushing a stroller across a street in the city Monday morning.
According to officers, Jennifer Eggleton faces careless driving resulting in death and pedestrian's right of way in crosswalk charges.
Eggleton's Toyota hit Rebecca Robinson and Lori Arcuragi as they were walking across North Carefree Circle around 8 a.m. They were pushing a stroller with a baby strapped in. The baby was not seriously hurt, but both women died.
Robinson is in her late 20s, Arcurago is in her mid-50s and Eggleton is in her early 40s, but officers could not give exact ages.
The speed limit on eastbound North Carefree is 40 mph, but investigators did not say how fast Eggleton was going.
The crash happened at Picturesque Drive, which does not have a crosswalk, but charges indicate the women were crossing the street legally.
