Police: Jessica Ridgeway was likely abducted

WESTMINSTER, COLO. -- After extensive interviews with the parents of a missing 10-year-old Colorado girl, Westminster Police officers are now saying they believe she was abducted.

Jessica Ridgeway her suburban Denver home Friday morning to meet some friends at a park to walk to school. She was reported missing when she never showed up to the school that day.

Detectives have been talking with both the mother, who lives with her, and the father, who lives in Missouri. Neither are believed to have been involved in her disappearance.

Officers said they have received tips from Maryland, Texas, Nevada, Wyoming and Maine.

Investigators have thoroughly searched her neighborhood and surrounding area but have found only her backpack, which was six miles from the park she was supposed to be at Friday.
