EL PASO COUNTY, COLO. -- The Democratic Party and the Republican Party in El Paso County have united together to send a message to the community respecting campaign signs and campaign property.
Both parties are asking El Paso County residents to respect individual beliefs of their neighbors.
"Emotions run high during the election season, and we all want to support our candidates," El Paso County Democratic Party chair Kathleen Ricker said in a statement. "Showing that support, however, should never include destroying the opposition’s campaign signs It is a crime to steal or destroy signs."
Reports of campaign property being vandalized has increased with the election just four weeks away.
"All that vandalism does is leave trash lying around our beautiful city. There is no need for either side to be doing this sort of thing,” El Paso County Republican Party chair Eli Bremer said.
Both parties are encouraging anyone whose cars or other property gets vandalized to file a report with local authorities.
Campaign officials are also reminding likely voters that the voter registration deadline is Tuesday. You can verify voter registration by clicking here.
