COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Filling up for half the price!
Unleaded gas is going for $3.75 a gallon around southern Colorado, but for two hours Thursday the Conoco on 8th street and Cimarron Street dropped the price to a $1.84.
"I'm going to go camping this weekend, so I need the cheap gas," Darryl Thompson, a Colorado Springs driver, said.
Dozens of drivers lined up to take advantage of the discount paid for by Morning in America.
The conservative group tried to promote American energy policy, slashing the price of unleaded to $1.84, the same price as back in January 2009.
"The President took over, Obama, and he doesn't like oil, and he doesn't like coal, he wants to have windmills on our car," Evan Caracostass, a Colorado Springs driver, said.
While some people understood the politics behind the price cut, most drivers just wanted a good deal.
There was one stipulation - only 150 cars got the discount. That meant some drivers waited more than three hours to guarantee their gas up on a maximum of 15 gallons.
