One man is killed after disgruntled ex-boyfriend shoots him

PUEBLO, COLO. -- Pueblo Police officers are investigating a shooting that left one man dead Saturday morning.

PPD was called to the the 7-11 store at 905 West Northern for a disturbance with shots fired.

When officers arrived they found one male dead in the parking lot. Witnesses said the male suspect, 25-year-old Matthew Aldaz, confronted his ex-girlfriend and her male companion, 38-year-old Thomas Abeyta.

Aldaz shot Abeyta multiple times and was involved in a one-car accident on 1100 E. Northern when he fled the scene.

Aldaz was ejected suffering serious bodily injury and sent to a nearby hospital.

The suspect remains in the hospital and no arrests have been made.
