CANON CITY, COLO. -- Court documents released Tuesday state a Canon City man was arrested for sexually assaulting his girlfriend multiple times, often when she was off medication.

According to Romulo Garza's arrest affidavit, his girlfriend reported the sexual assaults to Canon City Police officers, but not until more than a month after the last reported assault happened.

The woman said Garza would force sex upon her, and she normally would let him do it despite her pain because she couldn't fight him.

She also told officers she felt like she had to let him do what he wanted.

According to her, the most recent sexual assault happened July 20, but she didn't tell officers until Aug. 31. She also said she was often times off her medication when it happened, so she was not 100 percent mentally.

Garza has since been arrested for third degree assault, sexual assault and domestic violence.
