PUEBLO, COLO. -- A standoff in Pueblo is over after police fired tear gas in to a house Wednesday morning.

It began around 2:40 a.m. when officers were sent to the 900 block of Veta Avenue regarding a suspicious vehicle.

Citizens reported a male, later identified as John Gow, knocking on doors in the area.

Police say Gow was armed with a handgun and ran from officers.

Gow was later found in a home in the 700 Block of W. Adams, still armed.

Police evacuated the neighborhood as the SWAT Team began negotiations with Gow.

Around 6:30 a.m. the SWAT Team breached the front door and eventually introduced tear gas into the residence and Gow surrendered without further incident.

He was transported to an area hospital to treat the effects of the gas but was otherwise uninjured.

Police say Gow was wanted on an escape warrant and was identified as a suspect in several recent "Home Invasion" style burglaries in Pueblo.

He is now booked into the Pueblo County Jail.
