COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- A Colorado Springs high school student was hit by a car downtown Monday and is recovering from minor injuries.
Colorado Springs Police officers said the student was crossing Platte Avenue along Weber Street walking north toward Palmer High School when a southbound car on Weber turned left onto eastbound Platte and hit the student.
Officers said the student had the pedestrian right-of-way, and they ticketed the driver for failure to yield to pedestrian traffic.
The student was treated and released at a hospital after rolling over the hood and windshield of the car. The driver was not hurt.
