MONUMENT, COLO. -- A minor was struck by a train early Saturday morning in Monument.

It happened around 1:00 a.m.

The El Paso County Sherrif's Office said people walking near the tracks found the juvenile who was transported to a local hospital.

Deputies said he was struck by a northbound traveling train but aren't releasing any other information.

They said they are working on interviewing any potential witnesses.

The victim's condition is unknown but deputies said he was in surgery Saturday afternoon.
