EL PASO COUNTY, COLO. -- A 10-year-old boy died at the hospital Tuesday morning after a relative he was in the car with crashed into a cow in the middle of the highway.
According to Colorado State troopers, Michael Skaggs was driving west on Highway 94 in eastern El Paso County Monday night when he hit a black cow near mile marker 31, running the car off the left side of the road.
The 10-year-old, Samuel Skaggs, suffered a head injury and died around 9:25 a.m. the next morning.
Troopers said alcohol and speed were not factors in the crash. They said Michael told them he couldn't see the cow in the road, which he crashed into at 9:30 p.m.
Another car hit the same cow a short time later.
