PUEBLO, COLO. -- A woman accused of robbing a bank in Pueblo late Thursday morning was arrested when officers tracked her using a card planted inside the stolen cash.
According to Pueblo Police officers, a 50-year-old woman walked into the Sunflower Bank in the 1700 block of South Pueblo Boulevard around 11:21 a.m., gave the teller a note stating she wanted money. Officers said the note stated the woman had a friend outside who had a pipe bomb and would use it if anyone didn't cooperate or tried to call police.
The teller bagged cash as demanded, including a stack of money that had a tracking card in it, and gave it to the robber, who left.
Officers used the card to track the woman by GPS to an apartment complex at the intersection of Royal Crest Drive and Lehigh Avenue.They found the woman's car with a bag full of money, the note and the clothes she wore during the robbery inside. At the complex, officers arrested the woman after they saw her knocking on an apartment door.
The woman who lives at that apartment told officers she didn't know the robber.
Charges against her are pending.
