GLENWOOD SPRINGS, COLO. (AP) -- Police in Glenwood Springs say they were acting out of an abundance of caution when they asked a protester wearing a white mask and holding a sign declaring "The Beginning is Near" to end his one-man demonstration.
Glenwood Springs Police Lt. Bill Kimminau said Tuesday the unidentified man was asked to move because of public sensitivity to anything suspicious following the mass killings at an Aurora movie theater last week during a midnight premiere of the new Batman movie. He says the man left on his own and the motive was unknown.
According to the Glenwood Springs Post Independent, police told the man he was scaring people and they wanted to avoid a confrontation.
