FREMONT COUNTY, COLO. -- A Colorado Springs man is facing 11 charges after deputies in Fremont County caught him trying to break into a hardware store.

Fremont County Sheriff's deputies said 43-year-old Edward Erickson around 8:13 p.m. Wednesday when a deputy saw his car on the north side of the True Value Trailers building and caught him in the fenced-in area.

Deputies said Erickson ran from his car onto the property when he saw a patrol car, and they found him inside.

Store employees told deputies Erickson had been in the store earlier that day and is accused of starting a small grass fire on the east side of the property to distract employees. They said he also tried to steal a chainsaw from the store last week.

Deputies didn't catch Erickson during either of the accused crimes but said a store employee warned them to be on the lookout for him about a half hour before the arrest Wednesday night.

Deputies found a gun, burglary tools, IDs and license plates in Erickson's car that they think he stole from different people in the Canon City area.

Erickson had four outstanding warrants and faces seven new charges stemming from the True Value incidents. His charges include:

- Criminal attempt - second degree burglary (new)
- Second degree criminal trespass (new)
- Criminal mischief (new)
- Possession of burglary tools (new)
- Fourth degree arson (new)
- Criminal impersonation (new)
- Possession of a weapon by a previous offender (new)
- Criminal trespass (outstanding)
- Traffic charges (outstanding)
- Obstruction of a police officer (outstanding)
- Parole violation (outstanding)

His total bond for all charges is $17,000, but the parole violation has no bond.
