COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Colorado Springs Police officers successfully arrested a man who was trying to commit suicide Sunday night.

Officers found 22-year-old Aaron Rhoades on the roof of the Point Castle Properties in the 4500 block of Castlepoint Drive after he escaped through a second floor window of the corrections building.

Negotiators talked with Rhoades, who held a knife to his throat and said he would kill himself if officers tried to contact him.

After three and a half hours, officers were finally able to make an arrest without Rhoades hurting himself. He will be charged with escape and resisting arrest.
