COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- A former teacher at a local daycare is facing several charges after she allegedly pulled a knife on a six-year-old.
Colorado Springs police began investigating the incident back in May after it was reported to them.
It happened at Building Blocks on North Academy Road near Austin Bluffs.
After an investigation police arrested 34-year-old Suzanne Warmington Thursday and charged her with menacing, child abuse, and reckless endangerment.
"According to statements they were able to obtain a teacher did use a knife against a child's leg and kind of made a statement more or less to the fact you know 'do you want me to cut the leg off?'" Barbara Miller, Public Information Officer for CSPD, said.
Court documents showed that one of the other children at the day care told the director that "Ms. Suzanne was mean." She also told her that Ms. Suzanne told a little girl that "she needed to cry real tears to get a band-aid for her boo-boo on her leg."
Then the girl said Warmington pulled out a knife placed it against the little girl's knee and told her she would cut it off if she didn't stop crying.
According to the documents another teacher witnessed the incident and also reported it.
The daycare told FOX21 News they immediately reprimanded Warmington and later fired her.
Police said the child wasn't physically injured but was upset by the incident.
The knife used was reportedly a folding knife with a two-and-half inch blade.
Court document said in an interview with police Warmington changed her story several times then finally admitted to placing her pocket knife to the victim's knee and making a "snide" comment about cutting it off.
When police asked the victim how it felt when the knife was put on her knee she told them she felt "sad."
Police said the investigation is ongoing but they don't believe Warmington threatened anyone else.
"We are looking to find out if any other children were threatened, but at this time we believe it was just this one child," Miller said.
Warmington is out on bond and is set to appear in court next Wednesday.
