Walmart hiring 80 people for new Springs store

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Walmart is hiring 80 associates for its new neighborhood market in southeastern Colorado Springs.

The market, opening in August on Murray Boulevard a block north of Platte Avenue, will have full-time and part-time positions available.

Walmart has opened a temporary hiring center at the Space Center Drive store at Palmer Park Boulevard and Powers Boulevard to help facilitate applications. They will accept applications from 8 a.m. - noon and 1-5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Applicants can also apply online.

"We are excited to add this Walmart to Colorado Springs and bring good jobs with career opportunities to the area," store manager Tammy Cooper said.

Cooper began her Walmart career in 2001 as a cashier in Fountain.

Positions are needed in all areas of the store, and full-time employees will receive benefits. Quarterly incentives will also be awarded based on performance.

Employees will begin work in July to prepare for the August grand opening.
