FOWLER, COLO. -- Crews are battling a 150 acre wildfire east of Pueblo, near Fowler.
"[The winds] are hampering efforts a little bit because it's pushing the fire continuously to the north and east, so they're working, and that's where they've got several pumper trucks and brush trucks," Capt. Brian Lyons with the Colorado State Patrol said.
According to the La Junta Fire Chief, the fire is west of Fowler, on the north side of the Arkansas River. So far, no one has been evacuated, officials said.
"Where the majority of the fire is, there's only two houses in the location. All of those residents are fine. They're not evacuated. They're still in their house," Lyons said.
Agencies from Fowler, Pueblo County, La Junta, Rocky Ford, Manzanola, Boone and Crowley are battling the flames. They've asked for help from the Wildland Emergency Response Fund.
"Fifty people here are fighting on the ground and the trucks to get that settled," Lyons said.
He believes the fire is about 30 percent contained as of 9 p.m. Crews will be working throughout the night.
Highway 96 remains closed between Fowler and Boone.
