MANITOU SPRINGS, COLO. -- Manitou Springs Police officers said a registered sex offender accused of approaching several young girls did not violate any laws and has not been arrested.
Officers recently investigated a case where a registered sex offender made contact with an underage girl. They did not give details about the case but said they found no evidence the man did anything criminal.
Manitou Springs School District 14 sent out this note Tuesday:
“We were informed that a man, registered on the offender registry for felony sexual assault on a child, has made contact with at least one district student, and he appears to be quite bold approaching young girls. The Manitou Springs Police are aware, and are following up on the incident.”
Officers said no other reports other than the one referenced in the statement have been reported to them. Department officers said they share the concern of the district and the parents about cases like this.
Because the man wasn't arrested, officers are not releasing his name.
