Driver dies after hitting pole

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Colorado Springs Police officers are investigating a fatal car crash that happened early Wednesday morning.

The Major Accident Unit was called to the scene at North Powers Boulevard and Old Ranch Road.

The driver reportedly hit a pole and was briefly trapped. The car also caught on fire.

The crash happened around 3:30 a.m.

Portions of both Powers and Old Ranch were shut down while officers investigated.

No other information is being released at this time.
