VAIL, COLO. (AP) -- The Eagle County school board is replacing three foreign-language teachers with software.
The board rejected appeals to keep the teachers. The teachers are being replaced by a computer program that will cost students $150 per semester. The move leaves Spanish as the only face-to-face program, with a teacher in a classroom with students.
According to the Vail Daily (http://bit.ly/KkGtTz ), opponents told the board students need training in other foreign languages to compete in a global economy.
