Lamar police arrest two in burglary cases

LAMAR, COLO. -- Lamar Police officers made two arrests over the past 24 hours in burglary-related incidents.

Officers arrested 23-year-old Irving Martinez Thursday night after he broke into a building and stole items inside. They didn't say what building but said they found Martinez in the area shortly after the burglary.

Martinez ran but was caught after a short chase. He has a $6,000 bond on charges of second degree burglary, theft, criminal mischief and resisting arrest.

Around 1 a.m. Friday, 25-year-old Benjamin Gonzalez was reportedly trying to get into a home. Officers located Gonzalez and arrested him after a short chase.

Gonzalez will be charged with attempted second degree burglary, criminal mischief, two counts of violation of a protection order and resisting arrest.
