Dog killed after being hit by Explorer

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- A dog died Sunday afternoon after being hit by a Ford Explorer, according to Colorado Springs Police officers.

Officers said the driver was going east on Milton Proby Parkway and swerved to avoid a dog at South Academy Boulevard around 1:30 p.m. The explorer rolled two times in the median after hitting the dog.

The driver was not hurt, but the dog died at the scene.
