FORT COLLINS, COLO. (AP) -- The Larimer Humane Society is investigating the deaths of two dogs that were found bound and dead.

Investigators found a 6-month-old puppy that had been decapitated and tied to a life preserver on Thursday.

A week before, another animal was found drowned in Loveland's Horseshoe Lake. Investigators say the dog's muzzle and front paws had been bound with duct tape.

According to KMGH-TV, authorities do not know if the incidents are linked and they have been unable to identify their owners.
