COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. (AP) -- A Fort Carson soldier is in trouble after shooting his current wife in the leg while trying to commit suicide.
Joshua Bradley spent a week in jail and faces charges of assault, reckless endangerment and prohibited use of a weapon for the shooting last year.
Crystal Bradley tried to intervene and was accidentally shot in the leg. The woman said she didn't want to press charges, but the district attorney is going ahead with a trial.
Joshua Bradley tells KRDO-TV he was depressed because during a deployment to Afghanistan, his wife left him and his grandmother died. He said around the time of his suicide attempt, he met Crystal and got help for his depression.
The couple married in January.
The district attorney referred the case to veteran's court.
