COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. (AP) -- Two El Paso County sheriff's deputies are being punished for what a judge calls sloppy work investigating a murder case.
Deputy Ralph Losasso and Sgt. Robert Jaworski are being disciplined after they testified to an account of a confession that later turned out to be false.
According to the Colorado Springs Gazette, Losasso is being suspended without pay for a week and placed on three-months' probation. Jaworski will receive a letter of reprimand.
Contractors digging in the Monument area found the body of Genesis Sims in 2010. Her father, Hanif Sims and his girlfriend, Monique Lynch, later pleaded guilty to charges in the girl's death.
