PUEBLO, COLO. -- Public health officials said a fourth skunk has tested positive for rabies.
The animal was found in the backyard of a home near Mineral Palace Park.
The environmental health director for Pueblo City-County Health Department said the skunk came into contact with a pet that was not vaccinated.
Non-vaccinated pets need a rabies vaccination booster or to be quarantined.
The director said the skunk was found in daylight hours.
This is the fourth rabid skunk found in 2012.
Officials said there is now a concern skunks with rabies are moving throughout populated areas of Pueblo.
Anyone who sees an animal acting abnormally or aggressively during daylight hours should call the United States Department Agriculture at 250-9035.
