COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- There's just 10 days to go before the tarps are off and the players step up for opening day at Security Service Field.
"Looking forward to seeing these guys go out and perform the way our organization is expecting them to. [We've] got a lot of new faces we added to the organization," Stu Cole, the Sky Sox manager, said. "I've seen a couple of them play with other organizations, coming up through the minor leagues. It's really exciting to have them on my team now."
It's the Sky Sox silver anniversary. It'll begin its 25th year on Friday the 13th against the Las Vegas 51's.
Despite Tuesday's chilly, snowy weather, first baseman Chad Tracy said he can't wait to get back on the plate.
"It's definitely in my blood. It's been in my blood since I was dragging a long a little bat around as a two year old and it'll always be in my blood," Tracy said. "It's just something that makes it a little more fun when you've been around it as long as I have and I just enjoy the game."
The team is starting off the season with an eight game homestand. Cole said it'll be a good season to come out often to check out the talent.
"We're just going to want you to come out, see the guys play, see a lot of the guys playing on this field," Cole said. "[The players are] going to be playing up in Denver throughout the course of this season."
