COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Don't pack up the parka just yet, winter weather moved back into Colorado Springs after a prolonged period of warm spring-like temperatures.
Temperatures have been hovering around freezing throughout southern Colorado, and snow bands from the east will continue dropping the white stuff all day long.
Tuesday the National Weather Service issued a winter storm warning for the southern Colorado region and a winter weather advisory for parts of central Colorado.
The city of Colorado Springs began their winter operations at around 3 in the morning, sending crews out onto the snowy streets.
Crews have been working primary routes, which include multi-lane roads and roads that handle a large number of traffic.
The city reminds people that it can take hours to clear primary and secondary roads and residential roads won't be plowed until at least six inches of snow has built up.
In addition to plows various treatments also being put down to combat the icy roadways.
Several schools in the region either on a delay or closed thanks to the snow, giving kids a little extra time to play with frosty.
