COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Colorado Springs firefighters are dealing with raging winds as they battle a house fire that broke out early Tuesday morning.
Officials responded around 3 a.m. Tuesday to the 6000 Block of Red Hill Circle. That's near S. Rockrimmon Boulevard and Vindicator Drive.
Shortly after firefighters arrived at the scene, a second alarm was called on the fire.
Neighbors living next to the home where the fire started were also evacuated as crews worked to keep the fire from spreading to other homes.
The Colorado Springs Fire Department put two additional units, made up of four people, on patrol for smaller fires started by embers.
At least 57 firefighters were called to help put out the fire. Two firefighters received minor injuries and were treated on scene.
Investigators believe the fire started in the chimney of the fireplace and spread to the attic.
The Red Cross is helping the displaced homeowner.
