COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Witnesses to a crime from over the weekend were able to help Colorado Springs Police officers catch a suspect after seeing a car two days later they knew had been stolen.
Officers said they responded to two calls in the area of South 8th Street and West Cimarron Street Tuesday morning, one for a reported carjacking and the other for an assault. When officers got there, they determined the two calls were related and both stemmed from a domestic violence situation from Sunday.
According to officers, several people who saw the domestic violence situation Sunday were in the 300 block of West 8th when they saw a car they recognized as having been stolen Sunday. They recovered the car with no one inside, then began searching the area.
Nearby, the witnesses saw 29-year-old Anthony Robella walking, and they were able to detain him until officers got there.
Robella was arrested for several felony charges stemming from Sunday's incident.
