COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Colorado Springs Police officers arrested a woman for attempted murder after they said her girlfriend escaped several days of beatings.

Police arrived at a home in the 4800 block of Pacer Lane in northern Colorado Springs Wednesday afternoon for a reported assault victim.

Doctors at a local hospital found the victim had a broken nose, as well as other possible fractures.

The Domestic Violence Unit took over the investigation and said the suspect, 31-year-old Vanessa McMillen, had been using meth for days and was beating the victim with a handgun.
