COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Peyton Manning will soon be calling Sports Authority Field at Mile High home.

Manning called John Elway Monday morning to tell him the good news.

At this point, nothing is official as contract negotiations with the Broncos are underway.

Manning became a free agent two weeks ago after he was released from the Indianapolis Colts.

During that two weeks, he visited Denver, Arizona and Tennessee.

There was also talk about Manning going to San Francisco or Miami.

After weighing those options, the NFL's only four-time MVP chose Denver as the next stop in his already outstanding career.

"It is going to bring a lot of attention to the state and Denver Broncos organization," Broncos fan Justin Salinas said.

"I am excited about it, just hope he stays healthy that is all," Broncos fan Sean Skelton said.

"Being a 49ers fan I wanted him, but I am a Peyton fan so I will cheer for him wherever he goes," Manning fan Ricky Lewis said.

"It is a huge transition, I mean he has been with the Colts forever," football fan Lauren Edmonds said.

The offseason's most sought after player, Manning's move from Indianapolis to Denver has a tinge of deja vu.

After all, John Elway came from Indy.

"I was surprised Denver was in the running in the first place, but once Denver was in the running I expected them to get him because he is dealing with another hall of fame quarterback in John Elway," Sportscaster Matt Pauley said.

Since Elway's retirement more than a decade ago, the Broncos have been struggling to find stability in the quarterback position.

But what about Manning's neck? Will it hold up?

"Look at the money the Broncos are investing in him, I am sure they have talked to all the doctors," Pauley said. "They are not going to spend 95 million dollars and not be assured he is healthy and ready to go."

So all that is left to do now is wait for next season, and a Broncos team with Manning at the helm.

"Peyton is one of the greatest of all time, and I think he has a lot left in him," Salinas said.

"I am sure we will get to the playoffs at least," Skelton said.
