COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Got potholes? The city wants to hear from you!

Potholes are a problem on several roads across Colorado Springs and street crews want to fix as many as they can in a two week time period.

Beginning Monday, March 19, the City Street Division will begin it's pothole campaign to repair the estimated thousands of potholes around the city.

In order to patch the problem potholes, the city is asking for help from citizens to report the areas that need work.

"We only have 100 employees and we can't drive all 7,000 miles of roads looking for potholes all the time," Bard Lower, operations manager for the City of Colorado Springs' Street Division, said. "So we do this type of an event so the citizens can call in and tell us about that pothole or couple of potholes that are really annoying them."

Drivers can use the pothole hotline, 385-ROAD, or the city's free iPhone app called GORequest. Click here to learn how to download the app.

Lower said people who report the problem potholes need to be as specific as possible.

"Information you need to leave is the location of the pothole, what street it's on, what direction it's in, what lane it's in, the closest cross street," he said. "Please don't tell us it is near the McDonald's on Academy, there's three of them."

Lower also said to keep in mind that roads like Powers Boulevard, I-25 or U-24 are state or county roads and need to be reported to the proper division.

Streets crews filled 24,208 potholes in 2011.
