AVONDALE, COLO. -- Pueblo County Sheriff's deputies said a mobile home in Avondale is a total loss after a fire late Tuesday night.
According to deputies, the man who lived in the home called 911 when he woke up to the sounds of popping noises coming from his roof. He ran outside and called deputies when he saw flames on top of his home in the 45000 block of Fields Road.
Fire crews spent a considerable amount of time putting out the fire, which spread to the inside of the home.
The man said he was using a wood burning stove to heat the house when the fire began, but investigators said they don't yet know if that's what started it.
Electricity and propane gas were disconnected by crews, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The man was not hurt, and nobody else was inside.
Deputies said they don't have an estimate on how much damage there was but did say the home is a total loss.
