FORT CARSON, COLO. (AP) -- Authorities say a Special Forces soldier assigned to Fort Carson has drowned in Florida where he was undergoing training.
The Army said Monday that 36-year-old Sgt. Luis G. Serrano died Sunday near Indian Rocks Beach, Fla.
The Pinellas County, Fla., Sheriff's Department says a witness saw Serrano walking along a boardwalk or dock behind a hotel. The witness said the dock turned but the man kept walking straight ahead and fell into the water. The incident is under investigation.
Serrano was assigned to a chemical reconnaissance detachment in the 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne). He served three tours in Iraq and one in Djibouti, Africa.
His decorations include the Army Commendation Medal and Army Achievement Medal.
He is survived by his wife Jocelyn and two sons, D'Angelo and Davin.
