COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Colorado Springs Police officers have arrested a man who allegedly failed to help his 87-year-old mother after she fell in late January, leaving her there for at least five days.
The woman allegedly fell in her home in the 1900 block of Kodiak Drive in the city and was found by paramedics in sheets covered with urine and feces, The woman told officers she had been left on the floor for at least five days. During that time Dennis Foust, her 50-year-old son, was in the home but did not help her.
The woman said she was unable to move or care for herself during the five-day period after the Jan. 24 fall. Foust was in the home when paramedics arrived.
Officers said the woman is identified as an at-risk adult and was taken to Memorial Hospital with significant injuries that health officials said posed a significant risk of death. Investigators determined those injuries were a result of Foust being negligent and not calling for medical assistance in a timely manner.
