COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Owners of the popular Colorado Springs fun center Mr. Biggs will close at the end of April to make more room for Steller Restaurant Solutions, a call center that shares the building, to expand.
Steller Restaurant Solutions announced plans earlier this week to expand in the city rather than relocate because owners there are happy with Mayor Steve Bach's direction on city businesses.
Mr. Biggs has been in business for seven years, providing families with fun through go karts, bumper cars, mini golf, laser tag, arcade games, and bowling, among other things. The center was also known for its nonprofit work in the city.
“It’s been a great run for us, and we’re proud of all we’ve done here for our friends and neighbors with Mr. Biggs,” Jim Fenlason, the current CEO and one of the investors in Mr. Biggs, said in a statement. “But the truth is that Mr. Biggs just doesn’t work as ‘Mr. Smalls,' and that’s what it would be after the Stellar expansion.”
The owners are planning a two-month "going away party" prior to the April 29 closure, allowing people to come back and "play" one more time with discounts and special deals on passes, birthday parties, corporate events and other activities.
“We don’t want this to be a sad time for all the people who love Mr. Biggs,” Fenlason said. “We want it to be a celebration of the great times we all have had here and part of that is holding a really big, fun goodbye party for the Fun Center.”
The owners of the building are the same people who own and invest in Mr. Biggs.
“It was tough for us, making this decision,” Steve Bigari, one of the founders of Mr. Biggs and also the CEO of Stellar Restaurant Solutions, said in the statement. “We know what Mr. Biggs means to the community, but we also know that Colorado Springs needs jobs, and the Stellar expansion is going to bring a lot of jobs here.”
Fans of Mr. Biggs can post their goodbye wishes on the Mr. Biggs Facebook account and can find out about discounts and Goodbye Party activities on the Mr. Biggs website.
