GRAND JUNCTION, COLO. (AP) -- Eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 near Glenwood Springs have reopened now that numerous accidents have been cleared.

The crashes came as a snowstorm brought heavy snow to parts to Colorado's mountains.

The Garfield County sheriff's office said one deputy was being treated for injuries following an accident in Glenwood Canyon but no other details have been released.

Up to six inches of snow had fallen by Thursday afternoon in some areas of northwestern Colorado, and up to 18 inches is expected to accumulate in some areas by Friday.

Forecasters are predicting two to four inches of snow throughout the day east of the Continental Divide.
