PETERSON AIR FORCE BASE, COLO. (AP) -- Peterson Air Force Base is giving airmen and women who are returning from deployments a place to tell their stories to their families, peers and commanders.
The "Warrior Stories" program kicked off Feb. 17 as seven people talked about their experiences accompanied by slide shows.
A nurse practitioner told of treating Afghan children and trauma victims as a camp medic. A dog handler related how his dog uncovered about 30 mortars during a patrol in Iraq.
The 21st Logistics Readiness Squadron sponsors the event. The squadron plans to hold sessions quarterly.
Maj. Jim Lovewell, commander of the squadron, launched the program based on one he saw at Royal Air Force Mildenhall, a U.S. base in Great Britain.
