EL PASO COUNTY, COLO. -- City of Colorado Springs and El Paso County transportation crews were working hard Thursday night trying to keep the roads safe and clear.
Crews have been out since the late afternoon in anticipation of the snow storm.
As of early Thursday evening, city crews were seeing light accumulation in southern Colorado Springs and wet roads everywhere else.
Temperatures are also dropping, and Colorado Springs is on the border of freezing temperatures.
City officials are expecting 6-8 inches of snow and upwards of 10 inches on the north end of the city.
County residents living in the city could see 3-5 inches.
"I've seen [storms] where I can't get home form here, and I live out east. But we're prepared as you see, we're ready to go." Pete Cozzolino with the El Paso County Public Services and Transportation said.
County transportation officials have been looking at weather reports for the past two days and have a 38-person crew working through the night.
The city of Colorado Springs Office of Emergency Management is also ready to go. They've been coordinating with the city streets divisions, firefighters and police in case of any emergency situations.
The snow was pretty light Thursday afternoon, but officials are worried the wind could be a factor and create whiteout conditions.
"Because in the past we've had issues with stranded motorists with people needing support and rescue, we want to make sure we're ready for that," Bret Waters, city of Colorado Springs Office of Emergency Management, said.
Storms can change at any minute, and the county and city say they're ready for what Mother Nature might throw at them.
