Car hits pedestrians, catches fire

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- A car ent up in flames just after an early morning collision with pedestrians Friday.

Colorado Springs Police officers said a car heading westbound on Dominion Way near Academy Boulevard failed to make a curve and flew off the right side of the road, hitting two of three pedestrians walking on the sidewalk.

One of the victims took a hit to the arm, another was knocked to the ground.

The driver, 23-year-old Kellen Kostka, drove away from the scene, hit a light pole and continued on Academy to Dublin Boulevard.

Officers said Kostka finally stopped the car when it caught fire.

He was arrested near the blaze.

Officers believe that alcohol was a factor in the crash.
