Springs man caught in Florida roofing scam

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Undercover detectives in Florida have arrested a Colorado Springs man accused of running a fake roofing business and scamming elderly clients.

Polk County, Fla. authorities arrested 33-year-old Bartholomew Rafferty and his brother Patrick after a sting operation.

According to authorities, a senior citizen working with detectives posed as an elderly person who needed roofing help.

Recent fraud cases

25 arrested for various charges 
Woman arrested for check fraud 
Four more sought in fraud case 

The brothers told the woman she needed several repairs and quoted her at about $1,000.

Both men have been charged with exploitation of the elderly, burglary, grant theft and worker's compensation fraud.
