Man on probation caught with stolen car

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLO. -- Colorado Springs Police officers arrested a man early Sunday morning after pulling him over in a car that was reported stolen.

Around 3:49 a.m., an officer stopped 29-year-old Brian Powell, who was driving a car matching the description of a stolen car with a temporary tag.

Powell said he was borrowing the car from a friend, but he tried to run while the officer was doing a background check on him.

The officer caught him after a short foot chase near the 3800 block of Lakehurst Drive.

Officers said Powell was on probation, and they found several car stereos, marijuana and keys in the car.

Powell was charged with aggravated motor vehicle theft, possession of burglary tools and marijuana-related charges.
