DENVER (AP) -- A snowstorm rolling across Colorado is causing hazardous driving conditions, with heavier amounts expected in the northern mountains.

The Colorado Avalanche Information Center says a second surge of cold air will bring a little more snow and some gusty winds on Wednesday.

Locally heavier amounts are possible in the Flat Tops, near Rabbit Ears Pass, and parts of the Front Range north of Berthoud Pass.

The National Weather Service says a hazardous weather alert is in effect for most of the state.
