SOUTHERN COLORADO -- Both Colorado Springs and Pueblo Police officers are warning their respective communities of sexually violent predators who have been released from prison and are living in the area.
In Colorado Springs, Jerrell Evans is now living in the 3000 block of East Platte Avenue.
Evans has been labeled a sexually violent predator after being convicted of criminal attempt - second degree sexual assault in El Paso County in 2001. He was also convicted of felony menacing, felony criminal attempt - possession of a schedule II controlled substance and felony escape.
Evans is one of eight sexually violent predators in the city.
In Pueblo, 41-year-old Peyton Duran was also released from prison and is living in the 900 block of East 2nd Street in the city.
Duran has a laundry list of past conviction that include sexual assault, armed robbery, DUI, resisting arrest, burglary, escape and theft, among others.
Both departments have gone through the process of notifying nearby neighbors. Evans and Duran are two of about 14,761 sex offenders registered in the state of Colorado.
